Balthali is a peaceful hamlet placed at an approximate distance of forty kilometers east of Kathmandu. It is also a favorite stop for trekkers who come to visit several celebrated places for rest from nature. Balthali is surrounded by terraced rice fields and thick forests and also offers astonishing views of Himalayan peaks such as Langtang and Gauri Shankar. Near Balthali is Namobuddha, a very important religious pilgrimage site for Buddhists because it is famed for its monastery and stupa. Most say that here Prince Siddhartha (the would-be Buddha) performed a selfless act by giving his body to the starving tiger and her cubs.
Start your trek from Kathmandu to Lubu, then to Lakuri Bhanjyang, where stunning views and rich local culture await. Trek to Balthali village, exploring terraced landscapes and enjoying delicious local cuisine. And visit the sacred Namobuddha stupa, savor lunch in its serene setting, and return to Kathmandu. This adventure in the Kavre district offers breathtaking scenery, vibrant culture, and spiritual exploration.
Itinerary
On Day 1, the Day will begin with early morning driving from Kathmandu to a little village named Lubu, which is about one hour away and will also mark the start of your trek. It goes on to take around 3-4 hours before the last trail to Lakuri Bhanjyang, passing through verdant forests, and pretty settlements where you can stop to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. After reaching Lakuri Bhanjyang, relax a little while viewing the far sights before going into a local guesthouse for sleeping, where one can enjoy a nice traditional Nepali dinner in a peaceful atmosphere.
