The Traditional Nepali Meal
Most Nepalis have Daal, Bhaat, and Tarkaari (dal soup, rice, and vegetable curry) for their daily meals. These are mostly the same for homes, villages, and trekking routes.
Daal: The lentil soup is prepared from black, red, or yellow pulses.
Bhaat: The steamed rice which is eaten with dal and vegetables.

Masu: Spiced meat curry, which is prepared mainly with chicken, mutton, buffalo, or pork, as cows are never eaten for their killing is illegal in Nepal.
Katamari: This is such like a Newari pizza or dosa where it is from rice flour flatbread with different toppings.
Choyla: Spicy, grilled or roasted meat, generally served as appetizer.
Gundruk: Tangy soup from the dried, fermented leaves of green vegetables.
Kwati: A soup made up of mixed beans most usually enjoyed during the festivals by Newars.
Momo: Nepali dumplings filled with minced meat, either steamed or fried. These are an excellent snack or meal!
Samay Baji: This is a special Newari delicacy consisting of beaten rice with roasted meat, smoked fish, egg, soybeans, and ginger.
Sekuwa: Grilled meat, often from mutton, chicken, duck, or wild boar.
Sel: A sweet doughnut-shaped snack made from rice flour.
Sukuti: Spicy dried meat, roasted over a charcoal fire.
Aloo Tama: A soup that contains potatoes and bamboo shoots.
Relishes & Pickles: The spicy, sour, or sweet pickle made, often with tomatoes, radishes, coriander, or potatoes.
Traditional Drinks
Raksi: Strong traditional wine made from millet or rice usually prepared during festival days.
Tongba: A warm millet-based alcoholic drink popular in eastern Nepal.
Chhyang: Milkily white fermented rice beer.
